Ron’s Biography
Ron has been playing guitar for over 30 years. At the age of 19 while in the military he played in his ship’s band on the USS Roanoke. At 21 he played in a top 40 dance band in Ventura and Los Angeles counties performing Jazz standards, R&B, Rock, Country and Oldies. Ron stopped playing night clubs at the of 24 and gave his life to Jesus at the United Pentecostal Church in Oxnard, Ca. From there he began to play bass guitar in church and into formal study with Raj Rathor and Carlos Gonzales, while also playing classical guitar in local establishments. Ron has opened for services for Renaissance of Worship in Sacremento, Ca with his solo guitar playing. Ron has played Bass at the United Pentecostal Church Western District camp meeting three years in a row in the mid 90’s, after service he would play dinner music for the U.P.C Western District Ministers Banquet. Ron has also performed many weddings, recorded for T.V. and Radio commercials in the Ventura County area.
Ron has studied privately with Ted Greene (chord chemistry author), Jeff Linsky (1988 smooth Jazz instrutmentalist of the Year), Al Bonhomme(Dwight Yoakam Guitarist), Jean Marc Belkadi ( author of jazz instruction books M.I. Press), Matter Baldoni, Raj Rathor (Las Vegas Hotel Musician), Carlos Gonzales (local classical guitar hero) and Dan Gilbert( head teacher of Musicians Institute.
Ron is also a graduate of Musicians Institute recieving Outstanding Achievement award in his graduating class. Ron has been a private guitar teacher since 1993, and has a teaching studio in Camarillo, Ca. Ron is also currently teaching a Park and Rec Class for the City of Oxnard, Ca. Ron’s favorite styles are Jazz, Blues, Country, Funk and Fingerstyle Guitar in Gospel.
Ron’s influences are Earl Klugh, Russ Freeman, George Benson, Ted Greene, Brent Mason, Al Bohomme, Dan Gilbert and Cyril M. Greber( his personal favorite).
